We have over 15 years’ experience delivering fully guided, TY Specific, mountain bike tours with coaching and bike rental included in the cost!
Biking.ie was established in 2007 by Tarja Owens and Niall Davis, two of Ireland’s most experienced mountain bikers and highly accomplished International competitors. Ballinastoe is one of the five National mountain bike centres in Ireland and is highly regarded as one of the best places to mountain bike in the world!
There are now over 40km of routes and amazing trails to choose from and our instructors will ensure to pick the best possible trails for your group, like the fun and flowing new blue trail called ‘Cool Runnings!’
Our bike partner is Trek and students will get to ride the plush Trek Roscoe bikes which are only ever a few months old and immaculately maintained by our full time mechanics.
With expertly designed trails and breath-taking views over Varty reservoir and lakes, we’re here to make this a mountain bike tour to remember, no matter what the ability level is!

Age and Ability
The minimum age we recommend is 11 years old. Our tours can be tailored to suit novice or expert riders. This is a private tour so we can vary the pace to suit your needs, making it as challenging or as easy as you like. Please note these road bike tours are on quite hilly terrain and you should have a good standard of fitness and cycling technique.

Did a fantastic gravel ride led by Brian. It was great to be shown around on a route tailored to my ability and interest. Bike was in good shape and well-serviced, and it was great to start and end at their cafe for a coffee. Would recommend to anyone wanting to see the sights on a bike from knowledgeable folks!

The bike was in perfect condition, and riding it was a breeze. Everything worked great, and they even let you borrow a helmet for free. The trails are well-made, especially the red one. It’s clear a lot of thought went into it. After riding, grabbed a coffee at their place. It was good, and they’ve got other stuff to eat too. But the best part? The views from the top are amazing.
Very easy to make a booking. Helpful staff. Good and maintained bikes. Challenging trails for a novice mountain biker. Loads of parking space. Great experience to be remembered.
